Tide Pride Talk: The Talk of the SEC?!

17 April 2007 | by james

TPTYT

God bless Bear Bryant! That’s all I have to say, after a wild, wild week of Good Commitment lightin’ it up on the You Tube.

Kary and I knew that we needed to dish out a heaping serving of good ole GC comedy peas on several different plates, one of which being You Tube, and we knew that lots and lots of people eat off the You Tube plate, but woo doggie!

Our post of Tide Pride Talk has now been found, linked, embedded, discussed, acclaimed, despised, distributed, rated, and the platform/instigator for new trash talk among SEC sports fans.
Some Alabama fans think we secretly just hate all things Crimson.
Some think we’re Auburn fans.
Some think we’re for real.
Some think that beyond the spoofery, we’re kinda funny after all. We like those. :)

But beyond all the talk, we are glad to get some real notice on that thar You Tube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=_4sxsyhg2BQ), and in all seriousness, we put out this call to the Good Commitment faithful:

Anybody got any Rebel gear?

Good Commitment SUPERSIZED!

16 April 2007 | by james

We at Good Commitment are extremely proud to announce that on the crest of the recent wave of success we’ve been having, comes today’s episode, a special blockbuster SUPERSIZED edition of Good Commitment, “The Peripook.”

If you are a fan of Good Commitment comedy, or just a fan of comedy in general, you will love “The Peripook.” For this episode, we are very proud to have worked with Dr. Paul Ruff, a friend of ours from Starkville Community Theatre, who wrote and stars in this episode. Also in “Peripook,” from SCT, are Good Commitment regulars Gabe Smith, Thomas La Foe, and newcomer to Good Commitment, Krista Vowell!

If you’ve ever laughed at Good Commitment, be sure to not miss out on this one! Tune in as it goes up at 5:00 CST, www.goodcommitment.tv! You’ll chuckle. You’ll probably guffaw. Heck, you might even roll around on the floor a little! And you’ll do it for longer than you ever have before! See you at 5!

I noticed that two people on myspace were hotlinking images off my personal page. This means that they were having the pictures displayed on their myspace profiles at my bandwidth expense. This is inconsiderate and considered bad form. Well, since the pictures they were pulling were on my site, then I could change them if I wanted to, right?

The first guy is a theatre lover. Nothing wrong with that, James and I have been known to dabble in the theatre from time to time. He found a “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” poster that I had posted a while back. His myspace profile looked like this:

Bandwidth Stealer - before

I grabbed a pic from his uploaded pics and Dave made a little plug for GC. This is how his profile looks now (or until he takes down the pic):

Bandwidth Stealer - after

Another guy did the same thing but his profile was set to private, so all I could do was grab his profile pic and change the picture he was stealing:

to this prank2.jpg

So that I’m not a total jackass, I’ll make them both Short Bus Riders of the Week.

Yea, Good Commitment!

James here. Just got back from the Bookstore after Good Commitment performed LIVE for the first time! So we totally ruled.

Funny thing though, even though we wrote down a scripted intro for the guy introducing us, he decided to paraphrase from memory, and now, according to him, the two of us are Mississippi State’s improv troupe, Lab Rats Comedy.

Or… we used to be, but now we call ourselves Good Commitment.

…We were kinda just looking at each other, then at him, and then the crowd, thinking ‘umm… okay… sorry Lab Rats. that’s not what we gave them, really…”

… So yeah. That happened.

But overall, it was fun! The audience seemed to enjoy most of what they could hear (darn espresso machine!), and they even clapped for us after we were done! Real nice and polite like.

So thanks to all the Riders who came out and supported us! We appreciate it! Tonight was definitely the best live performance ever associated with Kary, me, and the phrase “Good Commitment.” But that’s a story for another day!

If you didn’t catch it, tune in Monday at 5:00 CST for our smooth, taped version of the sketch we performed tonight!

We’ll Be Right Back

short-bus-wellberightback-2.jpgWe hoped you all have enjoyed Spring Break, if you had one. We didn’t get one. We’re not bitter. AT ALL. Promise.

We’ve had a really good run so far here at Good Commitment. One can only imagine what we’ll come up with next. Including us.

So, we will have something for you to watch this Monday the 19th, but it won’t be a regular, all new, momma-slapping episode. We’re heading to Atlanta this weekend for a little meetup, networking and R&R. We’ll get refreshed, have a few beers, arm wrestle some ten year olds and be ready for a new episode the following week on the 26th.

Make sure you come back on the 19th to see what we put up, we wouldn’t totally forget about you.

And be posting some Short Bus Rider pics in the facebook gallery or email them to us.
